Ballooning Around The World! - Alison Hedger (Book and CD)
Product Description
Finding foods in Scotland, Russia, Spain, Egypt and Jamaica in the Caribbean - a balloon adventure in song, dance and poems!
With seven new fun songs, Ballooning Around The World explores food, cultural differences, costumes, musical characteristics and dance styles of the five countries visited through a combination of songs, dance, narration and poems. This musical is ideal for performance by mixed-age groups (ages 5 to 9), individual classes and whole Primary schools. Since there are no individual characters in this musical, Ballooning Around the World is equally suitable for mass participation where several different schools come together for a joint performance, for example, at festivals and special events.
The children taking part are divided into the five participating countries and every child wears an appropriate hat. Some children will wear a full costume and perform a short dance. Each song has an instrumental accompaniment and so a small band of musicians will also be needed from each country.
The quest on this journey, which is accomplished in a hot air balloon, is to explore the different foods and special recipes to be found in each country.
Ballooning Around The World not only explores food but also highlights the cultural differences, costumes, music and dance styles of the countries visited. In addition, schools are asked to write their own poems, select the best and to prepare the recitation of the poems for inclusion in their performance. If there is a compere, he/she reads the limericks provided for the amusement of the audience.
Book complete with script, score and CD containing vocal tracks (to help the children learn the songs and practise the dances) and backing tracks (for use in performances). Educational notes and ideas for cross-curricular links are also included.
